Our Work
Almog believed in action. He gave free lessons to young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, provided food for families in need, and dreamed of settling in the Negev or the Galilee while establishing a supportive home for at-risk youth.
There is no greater way to honor his memory than by turning this vision into reality.
Neve Almog
Almog believed wholeheartedly in strengthening settlement in the Negev and the Golan Heights. He often said that too much of our attention is focused on central Israel, while vast, beautiful, and deeply important parts of the country remain overlooked and underdeveloped. Because of this, he always knew that one day he wanted to build his home in the Negev or the Golan and become part of the growth and development of these regions.
After his loss, we searched for a way to fulfill this vision as well. This is how “Neve Almog” was born — the flagship project of our association.
As part of the project, we are establishing an agricultural farm spanning approximately 80 dunams in the Mitzpe Ramon region, where grapevines and pistachio trees will be cultivated. This is a pioneering and unique initiative, as there is currently no other commercial pistachio cultivation in Israel on this scale.
The pistachio seedlings were specially imported from Spain and are currently growing in a greenhouse in Givat Hen. At the same time, we are preparing the land in southern Israel, including essential infrastructure work such as installing irrigation systems, soil preparation, and electrical connection. Once this stage is completed, the seedlings will be transferred to their permanent location and begin growing in their final environment.
The project’s long-term vision is to create a stable source of income that will allow us to establish a retreat center for bereaved families. In the future, we hope to expand the initiative even further and build a community that will carry the name “Neve Almog” — a place of growth, connection to the land, and the realization of the values that Almog believed in so deeply.
A warm home for at-risk youth
From the age of 17, Almog dreamed of becoming a teacher and educator. He deeply believed in the potential of young people and in the importance of mentorship, guidance, and creating opportunities for those who need them most. One of his greatest dreams was to establish a supportive home for at-risk youth — a place that would provide care, encouragement, and a true sense of belonging.
Since his passing, we have been working to fulfill the dream that he did not have the chance to realize himself. As part of this initiative, we have created a partnership with the Municipality of Ra’anana and with the Marom family, the family of Roy Marom, of blessed memory, who fell in battle and who also shared the dream of establishing a supportive home for at-risk youth.
From this unique partnership, a new center is planned to be established in Ra’anana, dedicated to supporting young people from families facing significant challenges, providing them with guidance and a safe place from the afternoon hours through the evening.
The center will offer activities and educational programs in a variety of fields, including music and mathematics — subjects that were especially close to Almog’s heart.
It will operate with the support of a professional team including educators, therapists, and psychologists, with the goal of creating a safe, supportive, and empowering environment where young people can grow, develop, and learn to believe in themselves.
Values education
Educational Program for At-Risk Youth
For the past two years, the association has been working alongside the “Asher Ruach Bo” Academy in Mitzpe Ramon, a pre-military educational program dedicated to preparing at-risk youth for their future service in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
As part of this partnership, we developed a five-session educational program based on the values that guided Almog throughout his life: speaking positively about others, kindness, friendship, leadership, and love for the land of Israel.
The program gives participants the opportunity to explore the deeper meaning of these values and reflect on their role as citizens, future leaders, and young people preparing to take part in the defense of the State of Israel. Through discussion, learning, and interactive activities, participants develop a stronger understanding of responsibility, compassion, and commitment to society and to their country.
Our goal is to expand this program and bring it to additional educational institutions and pre-military academies across Israel, in order to continue spreading the values by which Almog lived and that he carried with him throughout his life.
“Almog Run”
The “Almog Run” project was born out of the deep connection between our family and Paamonim School in Ra’anana. Three of Almog’s siblings studied at the school, and his sister also worked there during the war.
After Almog’s passing, the school decided to dedicate its annual race in his memory and turn it into a meaningful, values-based educational day in his spirit. Every year, around the time of the events of October 7, the school’s students take part in a full day of activities, featuring various stations focused on teamwork, music, friendship, connection to the land of Israel, and additional values that characterized Almog throughout his life.
The goal of this project is to instill in the younger generation the values by which Almog lived—kindness, generosity, love for people, and love for the land. Alongside remembrance of the events that have impacted Israeli society, the run aims to convey a message of continuity, optimism, and growth, and to inspire students to become better people and contribute positively to their communities, just as Almog did throughout his life.
